I could search for twenty years and not find the beauty of the paste stones found in these earrings. They are French, circa 1820 and are set in foil back, hand crimped cushion cut earrings. The stones are set in silver, and the backs are 18 karat gold. New 14 karat gold shepherd hook ear wires were added to convert the elements to earrings. These were found in Paris and were made from an amazing partial reviere. Five pairs were created from the necklace. Two have already been sold ...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst is a lovely delicate shade, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. Amethysts are said to bring calm, help banish headaches, and protect against drunkenness. The bale is decorated very prettily...

Diamond is the birthstone for April. The ring is approximately a size 5. It isn’t possible to estimate the weight of set rose cut diamonds; it is in the I range for clarity – normal for its era...

These are remarkable, Georgian 18 karat gold and glass pearl earrings, circa 1820. Very scarce , having survived almost 195 years, they were purchased in Paris. The gold fittings are cannetille(fine wire work creating patterns) and have retained their original, glorious patina. The ear wires are original as well and are back to front.

The use of imitation pearls was a novelty and an art unto itself. The laborious process utilized an inner coating of nacre which was a paste of fish scales...

These beautiful earrings are Georgian, set with mellow colored faceted topaz. Topaz, a precious stone, was very rare and reserved for the finest of jewels. This oval, faceted topaz is set in 15 karat gold foil back, hand crimped bezels. The use of foil during this period of time was commonly used, as stones were closed back and the foil was a clever way to add brilliance and a distinctive hue.

These earrings were once part of a reviere, and now with the addition of 14 karat gold wires a...

This is an antique Regency, 18 karat gold quizzing glass. During this period, the use of a hand held lens became a fashion accessory, not limited to poor vision. Eyeglasses were deemed unfashionable, and the well dressed woman would wear this 'socially acceptable' item on a long ribbon or chain. The term "quizzing" was used as the wearer would look quizzically with a stare or glance.

The vast majority of these were cast and made in heavy plated gold. This beautiful example is 18 karat gol...
