Every now and again, I will bump into a piece of Mexican jewelry incorporating an ancient artifact. Be that clay masks, carved little effigies or beads, they are always a treat and a source of great excitement. And when that piece is also signed by one of the big Taxco workshops, like the bracelet at hand, then it’s a real holiday! Delicate and quite romantic with their Spanish Colonial bows and a half-hidden heart motif this set of Los Castillo earrings is elegant and nostalgic at the same time. Being offered is an exceedingly rare circa 1943 sterling silver and cabachon amethyst necklace by Fred Davis of Taxco, Mexico. Early piece by one of the pioneers of the premiere Taxco Silver ateliers. Handwrought half domed links with bezel set amethyst cabochons. Tongue & box clasp. Dimensions: 14 1/2” long, links are 1/2" wide. Marked as illustrated. In excellent condition.

I am thrilled to have stumbled upon this amazing, quintessentially Deco and quite rare Mexican silver and stone ring! Though this piece is not signed for maker, the design is a known Fred Davis creation and as I have recently noted in one of my descriptions, Davis was never as adamant as Spratling was in hallmarking all jewelry coming out of his workshop. So out there, there are many Davis creations that are simply not marked fully and I believe this beauty might easily be one of them...

This sterling good is hallmarked 'sterling' and a very faint signature for Coro. It is 3 3/4" square.

This hand-wrought sterling silver necklace is composed of square curved and graduated panels incised with a seaweed-like design, called "Pine Needle." Each panel is linked by securely soldered rings and bars; the end ring links to a hook closure. The back of one panel bears a plaque with the mark of Joseph Skinger, a mid-century arts and crafts metalsmith and sculptor from Vermont (1911-1967)...

A pair of hard to find William Spratling silver earrings with a ruffled silver band adorned with silver beads. These earrings are from the 1st design period. They are pictured on page 54 of Morrill and Beck's book, "Mexican Silver".

Measure 1 3/4" across and 2" high including the screw backs. Marked Spratling Silver on the back of each screw back. They are sterling silver or better. The screw backs hold securely. The earrings have some tarnish and minor scratches...

Impressive & rare this hand forged sterling silver belt buckle inlaid with chrysocolla quartz was designed & signed by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The buckle measures 4" X 2" and weighs 83 grams. It will accommodate a 1 inch strap. Signed on the reverse SPRATLING de MEXICO, STERLING & eagle 13. This combination of marks are found only on Spratling designs made from 1948-52. Beautiful condition and patina...

Masterfully rendered and totally stunning is this signed ERE bracelet also with an eagle 3. The piece is heavy at 63 grams and has a comfortable 2.5in. diameter. The stone is clear, well faceted showing lots of sparkle and is 15mm x22mm. The over all face front of the piece is 1.5in. tall. This is definitely collector quality and a real gem for your treasure box. This beauty can be worn with anything to anywhere.

A well crafted, hand wrought curved link necklace with a central pendant in sterling silver by Cape Cod gold and silversmith, Ross Coppelman. Marked Coppelman and Sterling. This is one of his early pieces before he starting working with gold and precious gems.

The lightly hammered necklace measures about 18" around, hard to get an exact measurement due to the shape and curvature of the links...

Los Ballesteros beads are not often seen and these are exceptional. The half inch wide beads are quite heavy at 50 grams and 8in. long. The fit is more like a 7 inch bracelet. Each bead is 1 in. long. Properly hallmarked as shown and with eagle. If you collect beads, you will love these.
