Before William Spratling brought Taxco to life, popular jewelry all over the world was being made by spinning silver and turning it into beautiful designs in filigree. This is one of those early pieces. This example has 3 glowing gold sheen obsidian stones 1 inch tall. Early 1930's hand forged 980 sterling silver & copper cuff designed & signed by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). Heavy at 100 grams, this design is comprised of braided silver & copper bands framed by thick silver wire. The bracelet is 1 14" high. A wonderful vintage hand wrought sterling silver bracelet in an Arts and Crafts design. Signed with a conjoined 'JM' for Joseph Masaniello, a New York Mid Century Modernist jeweler who was instructed in Arts and Crafts traditions. Also marked Sterling. Measures 7 7/8" long and 1" at the widest. Has a hook clasp that holds securely. Curved vines design sits nicely around the wrist. Nice warm patina, very well made.

This brooch is made from three thick squared off sterling wires attached to a small triangular piece of sterling. Marked Sterling Rosene on the back. Measures 2 1/4" across and 7/8" at the widest. A stunning vintage Mexican bracelet in sterling silver in the classic Fred Davis Chevron design. Featured in Mexican Silver, by Morrill and Berk on page 27. This is a very old pre 1948 Mexican silver bracelet that is in exceptional condition. The 5 stones are barrel cut amethyst with no cracks or chips. The underside shows many work marks. The barrels have no splits however there are reflections of light that may appear so. The bead work was also very taken care of without damage. The height of the piece is 1 1/8th inches. Marked SILVER MEXICO which I find to be made with quality and a weight of 65 grams...

When I have looked at pictures in my past I always thought this was a huge wide piece. It is actually a tasteful .75in. width to the bottom link at 1.5in. tall.
