This silver pin is unmarked but exhibits sophisticated metalwork. It is composed of a single piece of silver that has been hand-formed and folded to portray a tail and stylized fins or, possibly stripes or seaweed. There is some oxidation on the surface of the body, under the fins, most likely from heating the silver to make it more pliable. A chrysoprase cabochon in a bezel mount represents the eye. The pin has a secure rollover clasp...

Circa 1930's - 1940's, this bracelet is a stunner. Hallmarked simply "Silver Made in Mexico", it's a book-piece design seldom seen, originally created by Frederick Davis and shown in the Morrill/Berk book "Mexican Silver". No maker's mark on this one.

Choice of modernist sterling neck rings or collars by Ed Levin.
The longer neck ring measures about 15" around. The ends are flattened with the wider one measuring 3/8" across. Signed with the script © Ed Levin, Sterling. Has some minor surface scratches and tarnish. Could probably be somewhat adjusted due to the open nature of the design.
The other more rounded neck ring measures about 13" around and is somewhat adjustable. Has an opening of about 5/8"...
Hand-hammered silver reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts movement and a jade bead that brings to mind ancient Aztec and Maya jewelry combine in this sterling silver ring by the Los Castillo. The specific design does not come up very often. In all my years of buying and selling vintage Mexican jewelry I have only had two examples - the second one being the one offered here...

It's been a very long time since I offered a Mexican clamper bracelet and I am happy to be starting again with a classic Taxco design, this repousse and shadowbox "Quetzalcoatl" example. The maestro who signs it I am familiar with - he worked in Taxco and it seems that clamper bracelets were one of his favorite forms...

The Arts and Crafts is one of my favorite periods in jewelry design - emphasis on motifs from nature, design that focuses on craftsmanship while allowing the viewer to follow the artisan's hand, "honest" materials without necessarily seeking out the most expensive metals and gemstones, it was a real break with the fussy excesses of Victorian aesthetics. The silver and banded agate intaglio ring presented here is an example that brings together all the above...
We have a signed, early Fred Davis bracelet today to offer. The amethyst stones are a mix of milky swirl to a dark purple. When you look into them it appears to be a whole other world inside them. They are without chips or cracks. I could not do justice to them in my photos and there is reflection on their surfaces. They are a fancy barrel cut and the all silver links area cut in a half cylinder shape. There are no dents or damage. A little over 1 inch tall in height and a

One of my favorite insect designs in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry, this “machine age” dragonfly is known as a Los Castillo creation yet here it is signed by a “less celebrated” Taxco maestro. What first attracted me to this creature is its “industrial”, perforated wings that make the dragonfly look more delicate but awe-inspiring at the same time. Carefully hand-crafted and perfectly finished, the brooch is decorated with three polished agate cabochons. Green is for sp...

The entire length of the earring, including the rounded top, is a little over 2 inches. Weight: 13.5 grams
