Usually referred to as irreverent and whimsical Hubert Harmon was a native of Illinois yet studied at the Parson's School of Design in Paris. In the 1940s, he and his wife Louise settled for a few years in Mexico where Hubert opened a workshop in Taxco and created some of the most interesting designs in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry. A lover of parties, poodles and all creatures winged and mythical, he seems to have found inspiration in the country's folk art as well...

A lovely sterling bracelet composed of applied leaves, berries and curled stems on sterling wire frames, reminiscent of the contemporary Danish style. The large fold-over clasp is also handmade and in excellent condition; it is stamped sterling. There is no maker’s mark. All connecting links are securely soldered, and the silver shows no signs of stress or serious wear. The bracelet has been lightly polished, but still shows much oxidation. It measures 7 3/8 inches long by 1 inch wide...

An exquisite example of Italian Renaissance Revival jewelry that were so popular with tourists on their Grand Tour at the turn and first few decades of the 20th c. this long pendant necklace is the epitome of “figural”. Not only is its chain interspersed with links representing iconic Italian monuments and coats of arms, its large pendant is a work of art too. I will suggest that the central figure is maybe inspired by Verrocchio’s “Child and Dolphin”...

If I saw this piece from far away, I would think it's a poison ring - that's how impressive in size and lift its gallery is. Yet not to worry, there is no hidden compartment here and you won't be tempted to become a modern-day Lucrezia Borgia! Beauty and commanding presence, though, yes! There is a lot of that in the sodalite's dark blue depths with their cloudy grey swirls and that river of black cutting across right through the cab's middle...

a vintage 1930s sterling silver hand engraved heart photo locket on chain c1930s. This 1-1/4 x 1-1/8" locket has fine hand engraving on the front (the back is undecorated), and it has two retaining bezels with celluloid windows. The 19-1/2" link chain has a hook and eye clasp, each piece is stamped STERLING, and this necklace weighs 14.6 grams and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs...

These beautifully constructed cuff links have a diameter of 1". They are sterling silver and have a lovely patina (unpolished). They are concave disks with a "fancy" letter "K" in the center. The backs are marked RANCHO ALEGRE STERLING TAXCO 925. They have a good heft and are in excellent condition. FREE US STANDARD S/H

Formed as fish skeletons, they are nicely made, with working screw backs that are marked sterling. The backs of the fish are also marked sterling, along with a partial mark that ends with the word ‘Silversmith.’ Please note that some of the pictures show the surface with a yellow cast; the truest color of the silver is in the last two photos. Each earring measures 1 1/8 inches long. Weight: 6.6 grams total

A fine sterling silver hand made Arts and Crafts pierced cuff bracelet with a pink veined cabochon, possibly Raspberry Rhodonite. Measures 2" wide and 6" around with an opening of 1 1/2". Has a little bit of tarnish and minor surface scratches. Well crafted.

This is a very unusual ring. It is a size 6. It consists of "striated" sterling silver with lovely loops topped by genuine pearls. It has 4 hallmarks on the band that I cannot decipher. It is in excellent condition.

Early & rare this vintage sterling silver, turquoise and coral bracelet was designed circa 1930-48 by Matilde Poulat. The dove (palomas)at the center is raised so it appears to be inflight. Poulat signed her designs Matl, a variation on the Aztec word for water. The center panel is 1 1/2" across x 1 1/4" high. Length is 7 1/4". Each link measures 1" high. Hallmarked Matl & Matl 0.925. Beautiful, natural patina that only comes with age. All stones are original...

One of the most interesting - and few - female figures of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance, Doris Smith Chamberlin was a Texas-born American who decided to move to Mexico in the 1940s to open her own workshop after having completed post-graduate studies in art and having taught woodworking, textile-making and silver-smithing for a few years in California (I am grateful to Decotini for the information)...

A modernist pendant necklace by Bjorn Weckstrom for Lapponia in sterling silver.

Marked with the Lapponia Hallmark, 925, Finnish silver standard mark, date code, and scales mark. Also marked for Lapponia on the chain. Pendant measures 3/4" long and 1" across. Chain measures 15 1/2" long. An extender can be added if needed. Has a hook closure that holds securely. Very nice condition, surface shows some minor scratches and a little wear. Has some tarnish...

A delicate but sturdily made openwork pin designed with a scrolled top set with faceted red glass. It has a modified C-clasp and is marked for .800 silver...

Velazquez is known for his folkwork style in Mexico City. Repousse carved tops and puffy moth links were his specialty. This amethyst center is a gorgeous glowing stone. A roomy, approximately 17in wearable and a 1 1/8 inch at it's widest point in the drop make a clean, tasteful size to wear with anything and go anywhere. The weight is 53 grams with no damage, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

An exceptional gilt filigree scarab bracelet marked on the box clasp LORAN SIM. The company was in production during the 50's-60's in Providence, RI. One link is attached to the filigree by a small thread.(It's very hard to discern, though one may want to have a jeweler resolder it.See photo with blue scarab.)Please refer to the carnelian scarab for internal cracks. The real stone scarabs measure 3/4" x 5/8"; the bracelet 7.5" x 1".

One of my favorite female designers of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance (and admittedly, they aren't so many to begin with), Carmen Beckmann was a rather flexible maestra, able to create in many different styles. using a variety of materials. Her jewelry can be massive and jaw-dropping but quite as easily delicate and more sophisticated. The bracelet I am presenting here I call rare not so much for its design (which I have not seen before) but primarily for the scarcely seen snowflake obsidia...

A pair of vintage sterling silver bangle bracelets c1930s-40. They measure 2-3/4" across the interiors and they are 3/16" wide and they are both stamped STERLING but they have different maker's marks although both have the same diamonds finish. They each weigh 12.9 grams, and they are in excellent vintage condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique...

This Corocraft sterling vermeil double flower was probably designed by Aldolph Katz in the 1940s. The enameling is in perfect condition.
