Fabulous sterling tufa cast bolo by Mission/Hopi Preston Monongye ( 1927-87 ). The central piece features a mythical being holding a staff and carrying what appears to be an abstract bundle that is comprised of ebony, turquoise and bone. The central piece measures 3 1/2" long and 1 1/2" wide at the top and narrows to 1" at the bottom. The tips are 2 1/4" long. The bolo is hallmarked on the reverse with the peyote bird mark. A truly spectacular sterling tufa cast ring with 14k gold saw tooth bezel set Carico Lake turquoise by Pala Mission-Cherokee jeweler and sculptor Larry Golsh. Many of his jewelry designs, such as this one, have been inspired by those of Hopi silversmith Charles Loloma. The ring is a size 6 and weighs 31 grams. The face of the ring measures 1 5/8" long.
