One of the most interesting - and few - female figures of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance, Doris Smith Chamberlin was a Texas-born American who decided to move to Mexico in the 1940s to open her own workshop after having completed post-graduate studies in art and having taught woodworking, textile-making and silver-smithing for a few years in California (I am grateful to Decotini for the information)...

Twenty-six winged repoussé links with a center floral panel make this a standout necklace. Likely a Margot de Taxco / Margot van Voorhies Carr creation, as Margot was married to Antonio Castillo during the early years of Los Castillo, and designed for them.

The diameter of the bracelet is 2.5in. and fits most. The panels are divided up with a decorative motif of a caviar bead wrapped in rope and bead work up and down the height of the bracelet. This looks fantastic with Aguilar and Spratling designs. No damage and a patina that was almost black when received...

Beads are in 3 sizes (5 to 12mm). Nice old barrel closure catch clasp. A heavy, organic design distinguishes this handmade Mexican ring from its contemporaries. The stone is set within a vine-like mount, and is highly polished, fiery, showing very little wear. The ring band and mount have somewhat of a rough, handcrafted look, and the surface has a robust patina from age...

Los Castillo's fern clamper is simply the best. No other leaf can compare. The weight is heavy at 101 grams. The height is 3.75 inches. For fit the inside diameter is 2.5 in. I believe this will best fit up to a 6.5in. wrist. There are no dents, damage or repairs. The leaves meet exactly where they are supposed to with no overlap. A superior treasure.
