RARE OFFERING:Copper and brass "CROWN OF THORNS" necklace by Art Smith, NYC modernist, c.1960. Necklace shows a contrast of metals and sizes. The base is a copper neck ring from which brass sticks and balls jut out at various lengths. The copper neck ring is made of 6 hinged moveable sections. Silver dragon head pin copying that of William Spratling by Serafin Moctezuma, Mexico, c.1950's. Much to the annoyance of Spratling, Moctezuma copied his designs, including the mark "SM", which when turned upside down, looks like a stylized WS, similar to that of Spratling. Early sterling bolo with Mayan design on a brown leather braided thong with the fabulous cactus-design ends, Mexico, c.1942.
