A substantial set from Taxco's "middle period" this stunning necklace and earrings demi combines chunky cylinders of azur-malachite with shadow-box sterling box links. The result is quite impressive as the primarily green hues of the stone (the malachite is predominant here) are tempered by the variegated brown of the inclusions, all colors finally reflected in the glowing silver. I love a good chain necklace and this example combines good length with a presence that will never go unattended...

This is an old Mexico City folk necklace that is simply stunning. Approximately 17in. wearable length. The pectoral is 4.5 in. across and 2in. tall at the center. There is no damage and the silver is greater than 925 silver and has a beautiful color. The stone has a beautiful scalloped bezel with the stone in perfect condition. The repousse is puffy and has no splits and is quite thick with a weight of 65 grams. The links are smaller at 1in. long and the center is .25in...

This William Spratling Mexican Silver Bracelet is from his first design period 1931-1946 and consider one of his most iconic designs. It measures 7 1/4" long by 1" wide and weighs 70.6 grams of sterling silver. Hallmarked with the WS mono, Spratling Made in Mexico, and Spratling Silver. It is in good vintage condition with some light wear, tarnish, and has developed a lovely patina. Early style pin closure and attached safety chain. A great vintage bracelet for any collector.

This wonderful 1940's, Mexican necklace consists of decorative, linked hearts that meet to form a pendant of 3 hearts with a central cone-shaped ornament. The hearts have a lovely, foliate, stamped, raised design complimented by a small, bezel set, turquoise cabochon (in different shades of blue and green). The necklace is 20” long. Each heart measures 5/8” x 5/8” (at its longest and widest). The central pendant, marked “MEXICO SILVER” on the back, measures 2” x 1 3/8”...

This Margot de Taxco pin is a rarely seen design, with open-back repoussé and tiny silver beading which graduates in size. This double facing swan design is Margot's # 5291, and is collector quality. Measures 2 5/8" wide, 1 15/16" tall. Weight is 41.2 grams. Signed and hallmarked "Margot de Taxco Sterling Made in Mexico", with the eagle assay 16 and design # 5291. In excellent vintage condition. Pin closes with a roller.

Large and heavy cocktail ring in silver plate, with a large rose quartz cabochon. The top of the ring stands .75" above the thick shank. Maked "J Hull." Currently a size 8, but fully adjustable. In good condition with wear and loss to the silver plating. The rose quartz stone has natural inclusions.

A whimsical brooch made of one layer of 950 silver and two layers of Faux Tortoise Shell in the shape of a fish. Has silver inlay for the eye. Measures 2 1/2" long and 1 7/8" high. Has a rollover safety clasp which holds securely. Marked 950 AR on the clasp. Has some minor scratches and tarnish. Fun design.

Striking sterling silver and gem stone quality amethyst bracelet designed and signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico modernist artist Antonio Pineda. Bracelet measures 3/4" wide with a wearable length of up to 6 1/2" long. Beautiful condition with no chips or dings. His designs are the central focus of SILVER SEDUCTION: THE ART OF MEXICAN MODERNIST ANTONIO PINEDA. Antonio designs are also included in the permanent 20th Century Mexican silver collection at Los Angeles County Museum of Art - LACMA.

Over the years of my career as a vintage Mexican jewelry dealer I have come to love and appreciate the "mask" pieces created by the Los Ballesteros workshop. I have to admit that this was not a "love-at-first-sight" affair. On the contrary, it took me some time to realize that prolific though they might have been, especially in the post-1980 years which witnessed a drop in creativity as well, the specific workshop excelled in the production of superb jewelry centered by carved stone effigies...
