This sculpturally stunning cuff was designed by Spratling during the rare(1949-51) period when he signed his work SPRATLING De MEXICO STERLING. Stunning and very substantial vintage Chinese bracelet with five sections connected by hinges, in gold washed silver filigree backed with solid silver panels, each with a charming carved genuine apple jade Buddha figure. Not marked but tests positive for sterling silver. Circa 1940. It weighs 71 grams. With a slide clasp and safety chain. Six turquoise cabochons are nestled within opposing silver "V"s which form diamond shaped panels, tiny silver beads between them. Alternating with these panels are large silver domes. Closure is a tight and secure tongue in box. Recesses are oxidized. This is a bracelet which really shows up beautifully on the wrist.

Usually referred to as irreverent and whimsical Hubert Harmon was a native of Illinois yet studied at the Parson's School of Design in Paris.
