A vintage hand made sterling silver brooch with a swan motif by Carl Poul Petersen, the Canadian silversmith who signed his work with the stylized CPP.
He was born in Denmark, married Georg Jensen's daughter and apprenticed with him before moving to Montreal. He eventually opened his own workshop.
This beautifully crafted brooch measures 1 3/4" across and 2 1/4" high.

A late Medieval signet ring of silver engraved with strong cross cultural references of the pelican in her piety and navigation symbols of the moon and stars. During the medieval period many were illiterate and pictorial signet rings served the practical purpose of bearing a mark that when impressed upon clay would authenticate documents.
The Pelican in her piety refers to the medieval fable of the pelican drawing blood from her breast to feed her chicks...
Sized for a man (yet resizable by a jeweler to fit a woman as well) this vintage Mexican silver and carved amethyst "mask" ring attracted me with its unusual brutalist setting. I don't think I have ever encountered a "mask" in a brutalist ring and I was quite thrilled with the discovery despite the fact that the stone was showing its age and the shank was burdened with a huge blob of solder thanks to somebody's clumsy attempt at resizing...
A vintage modernist sterling silver necklace and matching bracelet by Danish silversmith, Arne Johansen with a paisley design. Pieces can be purchased individually or as a set.
Necklace measures 15 3/4' long and 1/2" wide. Has a secure spring clasp. An extender could be added to the back if a longer length is preferred.

Circa mid-century, this quatrefoil pendant necklace is the work of "JVL". This master silversmith produced work for Antonio Pineda. I have had this exact design cosigned with both "JVL" and the Antonio Pineda crown hallmark. This necklace is not stamped with the Antonio crown hallmark, but the quality and craftsmanship are identical to the Antonio.
The pendant is exquisitely hand-wrought, with four thick onyx half moons surrounding a complex silver design...

The necklace is not marked, but the clasp is marked 925 for sterling and also has a tiny mark, maybe a stylized 'S' that we can't identify.
Central pendant measures 2 1/8" across and 2 1/4" high including the dangle. Necklace measures 17 1/2" long. Has a spring clasp that holds securely.

Ca 1960 Here is a wonderful 3-dimensional bracelet reminiscent of Jensen USA pieces. Marked Jewel Art Sterling, it measures 6-1/2" x 3/4 and retains its original patina.

One of my favorite insect designs in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry, this “machine age” dragonfly is known as a Los Castillo creation yet here it is signed by a “less celebrated” Taxco maestro. What first attracted me to this creature is its “industrial”, perforated wings that make the dragonfly look more delicate but awe-inspiring at the same time. A wonderfully crafted sterling silver necklace and bracelet by noted Arts and Crafts metalsmith, Clemens Friedell. Made of oval links with raised roses.
The bracelet is composed of three links. It is marked Clemens Friedell Pasadena Sterling on the back side of the hook clasp. It measures 7" long and 1 1/2" at the widest. Better for a smaller wrist. The hook clasp holds securely. There is a hammer rub or scrape on the outside of the hook.

Deeply carved so as to represent folds in a fancy bow tie the green agate in this big Mexican Deco brooch has beautiful color variation and is pleasantly "soft" to the touch. The substantial stone is generously backed in silver and held in place with sturdy, hand-wrought prongs. Marked 830 for the silver standard and what looks like conjoined 'AG' or 'GA'. Has a swivel bale.
Pendant measures almost 1 3/4" high with the bale and 1 3/8" at the widest. The silver colored chain measures 23" long and has a spring clasp that closes securely. Not sure of the silver content of the chain.
