The combination of fine purity silver with silky, shimmering pearls is among my favorite when it comes to Antonio Pineda’s work. And the modernist floral brooch I am presenting here is a superb example not only of the renowned Taxco maestro’s exceptional sense of design but also of the quality of materials he used. An amazing silver repousse necklace with a central moth pendant and turquoise oval cabochon by Matilde Eugenia Poulat. Signed MATL in block letters and 0.900 for the silver content. Measures 17 1/2" long and 2 1/2" at the widest. Spring clasp holds securely. Beautifully intricate work. This is the earliest mark for her Taller, (1934-40). Wonderful condition!

This graceful sterling silver ring is formed as a stylized snake with an impressed band starting at the head and tapering to the tail. The impressed area is nicely oxidized and decorated with contrasting circular elements, one of which serves as the snake's eye. The patina is soft and is nicely enhanced by the oxidation. This Mexican Silver necklace is hallmarked with an ms conjoined, Taxco, Sterling and an eagle 3 as shown. It is very outside of what I would normally acquire. Lighter than my average acquisitions, it is solid with no repousse and is 30 grams in weight. Very comfortable as it feels lighter than air. The minute I saw it worn I was convinced that it was very special. Dramatic at 7 inches long and 4 inches across the presence is commanding...

Formed as an arch with a central drop set with what could be polished obsidian. The stone has embedded diagonal bands of light brown, with an iridescent surface. There is a tiny chip to one edge; it is hardly noticeable and doesn’t affect the stability of the stone, which is quite secure. The back of the pendant is marked 925 on the bail, drop and arch; the arch also shows a London import mark, maker’s initials of ED, and the date letter for 1973...
