Old Andean folk art beautifully rendered in 925 silver … Diminutive in size but not in technique, this excpetional pin probably dates back to the 1940’s. It depicts the full figure of a Peruvian woman in profile, dressed in traditional period costume. Executed in splendid répoussage, and boasting remarkable hand tooling, the detail here is extraordinary—from the figure’s intricately braided hair, to the five distinct fingers on her hand, to the delicate floral pattern on her pleated skirt. Bruce Morgan, contemporary Navajo artist works in thicker gauge silver than most and tends toward clean designs that wear well most any day of the week. Unique interior hand stamping lends an air of whimsey. Weighs a generous 107gr (nearly 4oz). Measures 5/8" wide. Exterior measures 6 5/6" (inside measures 5 5/8") there is an additional 1 1/8" gap. This thickness is quite rigid so don't plan on adjusting.

Mighty Inca god of the sun and son of supreme diety Viracocha … Believed to be the ancestor of the Incas, Inti was at the head of the state cult and his worship was imposed throughout the empire. In fact, his name was considered so sacred that even those few permitted to utter it did so soundlessly! As can be seen in this fabulous Welsch brooch, the god was represented as a disk with a human face, from which rays and flames extended. But here, the face—which has been applied to the center of the... Click for details
