Antique Chinese Necklace Circa. 1900
We are very fortunate to offer a small collection of Antique Chinese Necklaces from the turn of the century. It is difficult to obtain this jewelry due to the Chinese Export laws. Nevertheless, this necklace is coin silver with green natural turquoise butterfly, coral, bone and malachite, with an assortment of white jade beads. Looks best when worn in multiples. It is so rare and extraordinary to find these necklaces from the turn of the century. Chinese law prohibits export. Nevertheless, we are fortunate to have several to offer from a private NYC collector. This necklace is 18 inches long with a 2 inch drop. This is a pair of silver earrings from Siam (now Thailand) dating about the time of WWII the Karen people who live in the mountains wore them. They are shaped like tiger claws in recognition of that ever present beast that has both physical and mythological presence. They are about 1.85" (47 mm) long and hand engraved. Condition is as shown.

This is a necklace, about 20” long, worn by a Naga headhunter. The Nagas live in the Himalayas, in what is now Assam, near Tibet. They are a mountain "wild tribe" and practiced head hunting until about 1890. It was required that a Naga man kill an enemy (any guy from the next village would do) before he could marry.
