This wonderful ring makes me wish for big fingers! (It’s between size 9-1/4 and 9-1/2.) 10k gold with a layer of gold gilt, it has a very rich yellow color. It has no monogram, though the top shows some wear consistent with its age. On each side there is a stork amongst cattails, who has just caught a snake for dinner! We also think there might be a fairy hiding in there; on the far left, just below the snake, there is what looks like a little wing, and a hand reaching up under the stork’s chin.... Here is a beautiful and beautifully crafted brooch/pendant of 18 k gold. Three large teardrop citrines are bezel set in a gold framework, with four seed pearls, and a fourth citrine as a dropper. Color zoning can be seen in the citrines upon close inspection. Note that the elegant leaf pattern on the front is carried to the back. The brooch is 1 1/4" x 1/1/2" Condition is excellent, except for a possible break in the loop that would accommodate a chain [see picture 3]. The catch has been ... Click for details

This extremely elegant yet simple ring has been attributed to Maurice Dufrene, one of the important designers of the Art Nouveau era. Dufrene really loved the ginko motif (see “The Paris Salons, 1895-1914, Jewelry I: The Designers A-K,” by Alastair Duncan), and this ring features one, as well as a pearl (either natural or cultured), in a very Nouveau setting. The stamp looks like it says “18k”. No other marks. It has been sized, and is a 6-1/4. Other than a line where the sizing was done, it is ... Click for details

This sweet jewel is made from 18k yellow gold. I can’t tell whether the leaves are very finely enameled in a pale green, or if there is a layer of green gold. I believe the center stone to be a sapphire, and I tested the diamond. I’m not positive about the red stones, but given the quality of the rest of the piece it seems most likely that they are rubies (the settings make it difficult to tell). The brooch weighs 3.5 g and measures 1-3/16 x 7/8". It bears a maker’s mark on the pin stem and the ... Click for details

Up for your consideration is this ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU ENAMELED BROOCH IN 14K GOLD SIGNED BY KREMENTZ and CO., NEWARK, N.J., circa 1905. The piece is done with some of the finest enameling that I have seen. The photos do not even do justice to the guilloche enameling on the piece. Guilloche is the process in which a pattern is set in the precious metal base and translucent enameled is applied over the top giving it incredible depth and detail. You can see the tiny viens of...
