Here we have a rare Art Nouveau/Victorian cross-over piece. The Victorians had a fad for using real insects, particularly these green beetles (possibly the Florida tortoise beetle), in jewelry. The Nouveau folk loved naturalistic motifs, but generally didn’t use the insect itself – and the design of the pin is totally Nouveau. A lovely 14K gold Art Nouveau period enameled flower brooch with seed pearls. The piece tests 14K, but is not marked. It measures 1 3/8" by just under 1". There is a tiny diamond in the center of the flower. The enamel is in excellent condition, as is the brooch and it dates c. 1900.

Here I have a lovely French lavalier, which garners many compliments every time I wear it; it’s one of those pieces that looks much better on one’s neck than in photos. It measures 1-1/8” (not including the jump ring) by 11/16ths” and I don’t know if the three pearls are natural or cultured. There are 3 tiny accent diamonds. Fantastic Art Nouveau ring with an estimated total diamond weight of .47 – just under half of a carat! The center diamond is approximately .20, the outer are approximately .15 and .12 respectively. Please note that one outer diamond has been replaced, and the prongs reinforced so that the "new" diamond wouldn’t pop out, as the old one did.
