These lovely earrings feature faceted amethyst gemstones claw-set in gold washed silver mount. The amethysts are light purple and each measure 13mm in diameter. The earrings measure 1 5/8 x 5/8 inches from wire to bottom. Finished with a shepherd’s hook back.

This lovely piece is from the early 1800s, when cannetille work was the vogue – very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst has a lovely delicate color, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats. The bale is decorated very prettily. The whole lavalier, including the bale, measures 1-1/2 x 9/16”. Pair of 18K Yellow Gold Hoop Earrings Circa 1850 France. Each earring is 7/8 inch in diameter. 1/4 inch wide. Intricate vine and leaf motif. Originally worn back to front due to invisible wire hinge. Now, can be worn front-to-back. Hallmarked on wires and at hinges. 7.1 gr. 4.6 dwt. Gold tested with 18K acid. Both earrings are in excellent original condition. Vines and leaves show extraordinary craftsmanship.
