These gold amethyst and natural pearl earrings are circa 1830. Formally, stud buttons, they were beautifully converted to earrings. The amethyst are a deep violet color and have a rich hue created by the foil placed below the stone. This process was done in jewelry that had stones closed in the back to the light. Elegant natural pearl and amethyst necklace,circa 1830. It is designed with a clasp of a faceted,foil back amethyst in rub over gold setting. The foil back amethyst is surrounded by a row of natural pearls. The necklace has eight rows of cream colored natural pearls approximately 2mm. This 15k Georgian diamond and amethyst ring is circa 1800. It has a central, faceted foil back amethyst flanked by four rose diamonds. The amethyst is a rich violet measuring 9mm x 5 mm.
