While I recall seeing this exceptionally rare hallmark in the past, a star, I can't find it in any of my reference books nor can I find it listed on the "mystery marks" websites. I welcome info anyone wishes to send me. Otherwise, a knowing buyer can feel free to snatch this one up and may have found themselves quite the bargain. The only other mark is "Silver Mexico" so this predates the eagle mark of the late 1940s.

Strongly designed, well executed vintage Mexican silver and amethyst necklace by Carmen Beckmann. This necklace, like many of Maestra Beckmann's designs, is characterized by a strong, dramatic aesthetic. Large trapezoid-like silver links are ingeniously connected with amethyst cabochon jump-links. Measuring 16 1/4" by 5/8" wide. Nice weight. This is the second listing of a Victorian niello pendant. Niello jewelry became very popular at the turn of the 19th century and lovely items were created to match the demand. The process of niello is unique, whereby metal, in this case silver, is etched in patterns. Then alloys of metals which have been fused are filled in the cavities. The characteristic patterns in muted gray are thus created.

This beautiful coin holder is circa 1890. The word niello is used to describe the process of creating patterns by etching metal,in this case silver, then filling with alloys of metal that are fused and then filled in the cavities.

Wonderful vintage wrapped crystal ring in silver. Not sure what grade of silver. No marks. Crystal has a point on one end and is secure. The twisted band divides in 2 and has an opening at the base for adjustment if necessary. Right now ring measures about 6 1/2. Can push in bottom to make smaller or out for larger. Crystal is clear. Top measures approximately 3/4 inch x 1 1/8 inches. Excellent condition. Beautiful shiny silver. Shipping is $3.25 for 1st class,insured. Gorgeous piece!
