This stunning pair of hand-made sterling silver ear clips makes me think of Georgia O'Keeffe's flower paintings. They have the same graceful, undulant lines - and the same gigantically blown-up quality. These earrings are about as big as ears! While the shapes are evocative of Art Nouveau, they've been interpreted by a master of early Modernism. Based on the abstract design and clip backs, I believe they date from the late 1930s or early 1940s. Pads were added more recently for comfort. Despite... Click for details

This finely wrought Victorian brooch is one of the most romantic and beautiful pieces of Art Nouveau jewelry I've ever seen. Dating from around 1900, it features a flowing-haired lady who's more than usually gorgeous and very pertly posed. Beyond the charm of the coquettish figure and lavish floral silver work, the piece gains an enchanting, magical quality from its radiant mother-of-pearl moon. Naturally it has the old "C" clasp right for the period. Its measurements are petite, about an inch ... Click for details

Set with rhinestones in the red, white and blue hues of Old Glory, these historic earrings are extremely well-made with beautiful silverwork and prong-set stones. They're in fabulous condition and huge, too: 2 1/4" tall and almost 2" wide. The screw-on backs are original, right for the Retro period, as is the sleek and curvy Moderne styling. Earrings don't get any more 1940s than these - and did you know manufacturers were forced by wartime shortages of other metals to use high-quality silver, e... Click for details

Based on the Edwardian influence apparent in its restrained size and openwork pattern, this lovely silver brooch appears to date from early in the Art Deco period (circa 1920-15). It's an extremely high quality piece, quite weighty for its size and set with rows and rows of sparkling marcasites around a highly polished central black stone (which I believe is natural jet or onyx). In exquisite condition, this dainty pin measures about 1 1/2" wide by a little more than 3/4" tall. It came from the ... Click for details

This exciting ring from the collection of Fred Rezazadeh (distinguished author of "The Collectible Silver Jewelry Book" and "Costume Jewelry: A Practical Handbook & Value Guide") is a splendid example of Arte Nueva - an ethnic spin on classic Art Nouveau design. Note the swirling lines of these stylized feather-like leaves. Arts & Crafts influence is also evident, both in the fine quality of hand-workmanship and the choice of a green cabochon stone. And what a gorgeous chunk of malachite it i... Click for details
