Classic William Spratling famous "Petate" sterling pin, Mexico, c.1945. The mysterious "petate" is one of the most compelling designs ever conceived. It is signed "SPRATLING SILVER & WS (around which says)SPRATLING MADE IN MEXICO". Made of very heavy gauge silver, it measures just shy of 3" by 2 1/2". Very large, rare, and heavy gauge sterling pin by the famous woman Mexican silversmith, Victoria (Ana Brilanti), c. 1945. The original geometric Mayan design measures 4" wide and 2 1/4" long and the applied silver provides the exciting foreground against an oxydized background. This is a Sterling signed LOS BALLESTEROS PENDANT from a Detroit, USA Estate. The size is 2 1/4" X 1 7/16". Looks like an ASIAN HAT atop and a Star at the bottom (viewer's correct me if a better idea). Marked no the back: LOS BALLESTEROS STERLING with LB Logo and TAXCO mark. A beautiful sterling & copper fleur de lys design pin and matching earrings set c1940s, by the brilliant Mexican silver master Hector Aguilar. The pin is pictured on page 108 of MEXICAN SILVER by P. Morrill and C. Berk. The pin measures 2 1/2" across, and the earrings measure 1 1/4" x 7/8". Besides the Hector Aguilar mark, the pieces are marked 940 (for silver content) and Taxco. Great modernist designed mixed metals ring in silver and brass, possibly by ANTONIO PINEDA. It is signed "TONO 925" and is in excellent condition. This wonderful "lightening" ring has bolts of brass and silver set against an oxydized silver background. It is made of very heavy gauge silver, weighing 30 gms. and is size 9.
