A set of EIGHT small paintings on Masonite, the largest as framed 8 1/4" by 6", the smallest 6 3/4" by 5 3/4", all signed at lower right corner by artist "J. (or possibly "S") Parraga". The works date to about the 1960's or early 1970's. The artist had obviously been witness to many bullfights, having studied the matador suit of lights, the decorated barbed banderillas, anatomy of the bull, and sun-washed stands...

A beautifully painted 1927 oil on canvas of flowering plants in ceramic pots on a small terrace or deck, signed at lower left with what appears as "Yos. Bell" followed by "Mallorca 1927". This would have been painted during the optimistic years between the wars, on Spain's Balearic Islands. The unframed piece measures 26 1/2" by 31 1/2". An online search for an artist name that matches this has been unsuccessful; perhaps I am misreading it...

The scene is likely in Spain, where the artist is known to have painted harbor scenes of Barcelona...

An oil on canvas painting of a young prince or son born of a noble family, 30" by 24 3/4", unframed, unsigned. The boy's face to my eye reminds of Goya, so perhaps this could be of Spanish origin (though, "FRANCE" is written on the stretcher in modern hand). The painting was relined sometime in the mid 20th century. There are some scratches at upper right which appear as white marks in the photos, some minor edge losses at lower left, and there is an even craquelure over much of the surface.

Oil on beveled heavy oak panel painting of a man and a woman talking through the iron bars of a large wall opening of a residence compound, providing a view into more greenery beyond, potted flowering plants and vines framing the central imagery, 14 1/4" by 8 1/2", unframed, signed in red at lower right "F. GOMEZ SOLANO" and dated there 1891. This is a charming little gem of a painting with fine detail and wonderful handling of the Mediterranean sunlight and shadow...

Oil on canvas, 18" by 21 1/4", unframed, signed at lower right "A. Alvarez", the subject a colorful flower stall "La Flor de la Rambla" in an obviously European (Spanish, no doubt) town. The work is in need of a frame but otherwise is ready for display. Presently there is an inner frame remnant but no true frame.

A nicely worked painting of a lovely flamenca dancer in Spain, circa 1950's, 20 1/4" by 16 1/2" plus narrow frame, signed at lower right by listed artist CESAR VILOT. Vilot was active at mid century, and is known for his alluring paintings of females both nude and dressed, some painted in the style of Jean Gabriel Domergue. The painting has even soiling consistent with age, and a few minor abrasions, see at left below flounce of dress and to her right about 1/4 of the way down...
