A well-painted oil that reminds very much of the posters for JAWS, the terrifying 1970's movie in which an enormous shark terrorizes a summer beach coast community. The work is oil on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed, and is signed at lower right by artist Ryan Wells, dated nearby "10". Impressionist American painting of a beautiful landscape in late spring or early summer, unframed, unsigned, contemporary, likely acrylic, on canvas laid down on a foamboard, measuring 20" by 24". The work is obviously by a trained and skilled hand. Condition is excellent; needs only a frame. This being a "standard" size at 20 by 24, a suitable, flattering, pre-made frame should be easy to locate.

Henrietta Berk (1919-1990) was an American artist who specialized in expressive oil paintings of landscape and figures in vibrant colors using bold brush strokes. She graduated from California College of Arts and Crafts in 1959 where she studied with Richard Diebenkorn and became a part of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout California including the San Francisco Museum of Art, Oakland Art Museum, and de Young Museum...

Original pastel on paper by Vladimir Pavlosky (American, born in 1884 in Ukraine, died in 1944). This work is signed lower right. It is titled "Hillside" on a gallery label verso and dates circa 1925. Pavlosky was a Boston area artist who was inspired by Sargent and Homer. Provenance: Wharton Fine Art.

Original oil painting on canvas by Delos Palmer (USA, 1890-1960). This painting is signed lower right and appears to be dated 1946. Well framed and in excellent condition. Palmer studied with George Bellows at the Art Students League. He is known for his portraits and his illustration work (pulp fiction covers). He also worked on murals in Connecticut for the WPA Federal Arts Project. 25" by 21" in its frame.

Original mixed media (watercolor, gouache, ink) on paper by Judith Shahn (USA, born in Paris, worked in New York and Cape Cod, 1929-2009). Signed lower right. Frame is by Robert Kulicke. Judith Shahn was Ben Shahn's daughter. She studied with her father and Moses Soyer. Her work appeared in the New Yorker Magazine, Harpers, The Nation, etc.
