A charcoal drawing of Bellaire, Michigan (northern part of the state), signed at lower right and dated 1936, and titled there "Bellaire, Mich.", (and titled on reverse backing "Evening Landscape" (crossed out, and nearby artist signature also crossed out), by well known Michigan artist CHARLES CULVER (1908-1967). This is a rather early work, created when the artist would have been in only his late 20's...

THOMAS FLUHARTY illustration on marker board of Huey Lewis signed and dated 1985 11" X 13" we contacted the artist to confirm the authenticity and he kindly did so. This was a snippet from his email. Hey! Makes me chuckle. That drawing was done when I was a young artist in NYC at Gem Studio.

A pencil drawing of a female nude, unframed, the sheet 17" by 13 3/4", signed with the artist's initials in his hand at lower left corner. This subject is likely famed dancer Isadora Duncan, to whom Walkowitz was introduced in Paris around 1920. He executed it is estimated some 5,000 drawings and watercolors of her, as he was fascinated with the fluidity of her movement and never tired of trying to capture it...

Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a crayon drawing of a landscape with trees and a small body of water, 8" by 11", (loosely attached to a white mat), likely dating to late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I have listed...

A PAIR of detailed ink drawings, one titled "The Cottage", featuring a tidy home in the English countryside, the other a dated 1911 detailed look at a Gothic church's walls and entrance portal. Affixed to the crumbling old backing is a label for "The Cottage", showing it apparently won the "John J. Burnet Prize" for Alex Nicolson, who was evidently a student in "Club No. 129". So Nicolson was evidently a talented young artist...

A beautifully executed, sensitive set of five study drawings on one sheet of paper, 8 7/8" by 9" (15 3/4" by 14 1/2" in gold metal frame), the work featuring a lonely-looking donkey, titled at lower left "Alistair", dated Sept. 1984 and signed there by the late Scottish woman artist MARYSIA DONALDSON (died 2018). Donaldson captured beautifully her noble subject, who reminds of lonely Eeyore, in his pasture, in the Christopher Robin/Winnie The Pooh stories...

Fine pencil drawing, possibly illustrator art, of a traditional old doorway in New England or elsewhere in the east, 10 1/2" by 7 1/2" inside the mat, 17" by 13 1/2" framed. There are a few listed artists by this name Don Browne (possibly "Browne"----there might be a fainter version underneath) but I don't believe this to be by one of them, though the work is competently executed. The drawing is in clean, fine condition.

A trio of drawings I have owned for about thirty years---all unsigned, one on tracing paper, the other on heavier paper, and double-sided, the subject apparently Indian Rock, a favorite subject of artists since the 19th century when they visited the Naragansett Bay area of Rhode Island. Fine old drawing of two women and a man, a horse, cow, dog and five goats in a landscape, 17th or 18th century, after the Dutch Old Master artist NICOLAES BERCHEM (1620-1683). The drawing, measuring 11 1/8" by 16 1/4", (19" by 24 1/2" as framed) was laid down long ago on a thin card. It is unsigned. An old label including cut-out printed catalog entry and a hand-written note thereon, accompanies the drawing...

A strong pencil on paper self portrait in caricature style, 8 1/2" by 7" (14 1/4" by 10 1/4" framed), signed at lower center by the noted German painter and author, JOACHIM RINGELNATZ (1883-1934). The self-mocking profile drawing shows the distinctive nose and hair shock, both featured in a 1983 German 50 Pfennig postage stamp, a canceled example of which has been taped to the glass at lower right by a previous owner of the drawing...

PAIR of drawings, one in pencil, consisting of two sketches of apparently the same figure, from varying angles (11 1/2" by 8 1/4"), the other in red chalk, of a nude model (15 1/2" by 11 3/4"). Both are signed by noted California artist BEN CARRE (1883-1978) and are identically framed (23 1/2" by 19 1/2"). Carre was born in Paris and was an early set painter for the Paris Opera, Comedie Francaise, and Covent Garden...

Crayon drawing on paper of village rooftops in a European mountain setting, 8 3/4" by 11 3/8" inside the mat, 14 1/2" by 17" in simple strip frame (not pictured), unsigned. The artist was talented but unfortunately remains anonymous. There are a few scribbles on the reverse side of the paper (see last image). The work dates to the first half of the twentieth century. It is in good condition, consistent with its age; some paper toning and very slight ripple.

Ink on paper drawing of the narrow streets of an old town likely in eastern Massachusetts, possibly Marblehead, two women chatting casually, the work signed by the artist at lower right and monogrammed and dated in Roman numerals 1896 at left, by the noted American artist and illustrator EDMUND HENRY GARRETT (1853-1929). Garrett was born in Albany, New York at mid century, and died near Boston at the end of the 1920's...
