A finely done American miniature portrait, on natural wafer, of a handsome boy. The sitter has short chestnut hair and blue eyes, and is wearing a black coat and cravat, and a white pleated shirt with stickpin.

The overall size of the gilt foliate frame, which has a window on the reverse revealing a plait of hair, is 2 5/8" by 2 1/4". Condition of the painting and the frame is excellent, with no cracks, bowing, or restoration.

The young lad, who is holding a red book, is wearing a blue jacket, a striped vest over a white shirt with a flared collar wide open at the neck. He has an earring in his ear. Because of the style clothing, and the earring, this would be a portrait of a ship's cabin boy. It is very unusual to find such a painting as cabin boys would not have the money to pay for it...

A fine American naive folk art miniature portrait painting of a gentleman posed in front of a red drape. He is attired in a black coat and tie. Housed in its original silk lined red leather travel case.

Sight size is 2 1/4" by 1 7/8", and the case size is 2 3/4" by 2 1/4". Condition of the painting is excellent, as is that of the case which does has some minor grime on the pitsude and minor deterioration to the silk.

A striking and strongly limned Andrew Plimer miniature portrait of Edward Buller Hicks, of the Royal Navy. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1812, and this portrait was most likely done at that time. In a later ebonized wood frame which nicely complements the piece. Both the painting and the frame are in excellent condition with no issues. Sight size is 2 7/8" by 2", and the framed size is 6 3/4" by 5 3/4".

Provenance: Elle Shushan and then to a NY collector.
