19th Century European, "Doge's Palace from St Mark's Bay, Venice". This is a gorgeous Venice scene, painted in oil on panel, c. 1870s, signed "Ziem" in the lower left corner, in a heavy period gilt frame. This painting is attributed to French artist Felix Ziem (1821-1911), who was known for his atmospheric images of the city of Venice. Although we have been unable to ascertain this painting is by Ziem, the style, subject, and composition certainly look like his work...

Albert Dagnaux is a well-known listed French artist who lived between July 1861 to November 1933. He was born in Paris and he has a street named after him in Mantes-la-Jolie France. The canvas measures about 16" x 12.5". There is a small repair no the back and a very small hole which is not very noticeable. A very lovely painting.
