A large engraving of a mythological scene of Venus after her bath getting ready for a date with Adonis. The print was made by Etienne Baudet the French engraver who also worked in Rome. It is dated 1672. The print is after one of a series of 4 paintings by Francesco Albani that were commissioned by the Duke of Mantua in 1621. One reads includes the Mississippi Kite, Tennessee Warbler, Kentucky Warbler, and Prairie W. The other includes Slate Coloured Hawk, Ground Dove, and a Female. very interesting hand colored engraving of a old fort in the Gold Coast also known as Ghana--fort is Cap Corse, a northwest view, dud 1727--fort built by Portugal but traded hands with the Dutch, Swedish ad English --traded in gold, slaves and ivory mainly-explains why the ownership of fort was much sought-11.5 by 9.5 inches-add 3 inches for mat ad beveled mahogany frame --no condition problems--info on back has more history on fort.
