A very fine English Eighteenth Century Etching of a Gentleman 20” x 17”
Daniel Tretiak wrote about prints that were new to him (in 2017) that included, in my (LDT)view, one of the strangest, hard-to-decipher prints that the artist ever did, Bai-1. It was an early one, created in 1958.
Original burin engraving and etching by Dolf Rieser (British, born in South Africa, 1898-1983). Pulled by Joseph Hecht in Paris in 1938 as #9 in the "Africa" portfolio on Montval paper, signed and numbered "35" by the artist, in an edition of 100. In excellent condition. Offered framed and with the original portfolio cover with an engraving of African masks on brown wove paper.
