Serigraph (silkscreen) print after a painting by the giant of modern art, GEORGES BRAQUE (1882-1963), 9 3/4" by 32" (an impressive 18 1/4" by 41" framed), signed in the print at lower left and dated there 1920. The title, "The Blue Plums", appears in the wide margin below the mat. Braque needs little introduction, as one of the famous names of modern art who in the early years of the century developed, along with his friend Picasso, the Cubism movement, which changed the art world forever...

He was a generally shy and not especially sociable, humble man, who turned down a number of honors such as knighthood, by an appreciative nation...

Pencil signed and numbered lithograph print of a Civil War subject (Confederate soldiers with their flag, surrounded by gigantic black-eyed Susans), 13" by 11", 19" by 17" framed, by the well listed Louisiana artist ROLLAND HARVE GOLDEN (1931-2019). The juxtaposition of the oversized flowers and Confederate warriors is in keeping with Golden's self-described "borderline surrealism"...

One of a number of William Russell Flint prints in my shop, this is a fresh and clean example of the fine color photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This example, published in 1939 in an edition of 306, is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. The title is "Provencale Granary". The 1939 date would place this among the earlier prints in the long series that spanned decades...

Etching in medium brown ink on very delicate tissue-like Japan paper, the subject identified at lower left margin as "Robert Louis Stevenson House", pencil signed at lower right by the important Caifornia plein air artist MARY DeNEALE MORGAN (1868-1948). The subject is a circa 1830's adobe from the Mexican era, which sheltered many visitors to Monterey over the decades, including, in 1879, the writer Robert Louis Stevenson. Today the structure is part of Monterey State Historic Park...

Very decorative truly antique, 1770's print of an elegant lady standing, in the sanguine color, crayon technique (also known as "chalk-manner") perfected by talented eighteenth century artist GILLES DEMARTEAU (1722-1776). Original nineteenth century example of a desirable ("New Best 50") small folio Currier and Ives print, "Midnight Race on the Mississippi". This example measures 10 3/8" by 14 3/8" inside the narrow old frame. It has been subjected to a lot of the mistreatment to which old Curriers are subject: toning, discoloration, and wear in the margins; also, a tear into the image at top right center, another tear from bottom edge through the word "THE"; and most significantly, a long ragged 8" horizontal...

This is an unusually bright, saturated-color example of the MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985) lithograph "Romeo and Juliet", printed by Mourlot. This is a well known image by Chagall, created in 1964 for the ceiling of the Opera Garnier in Paris. Charles Sorlier in association with the famous lithography house Mourlot adapted this image from Chagall's sketches for the project and printed this. Measurements are 24 3/4" by 38 3/4".
