This beautiful watercolour depicts cattle crossing a ford with a bare footed young girl holding her baby, watching over them there are four ducks in the water beside a wooden footbridge. In the background is a flock of sheep in a field. In the distance there is a church and rolling hills. The condition is exellent save for a few spots of foxing in the sky which can easily be removed at a small extra cost. This lovely watercolour depicts the Bishop Bridge on the River Wensum in Norwich. One can see the masts of the two wherries. The buildings beyond the bridge where demolished many years ago and replaced by the law courts. In the background is the famous Norwich Cathedral built in stone from caen in France. Bishops Bridge is the only surviving medieval bridge in the city. It was built in 1340, one of the oldest bridges still in use in England. A fortified gatehouse stood on the bridge until ...
