This is a Limited Edition Giclee of a wonderful three mast Sailing Vessel. Signed in the lower right corner by WILLIAM PRESTON. William Preston was a member of the renowned Hull (England) school of artists who painted in the last half of the 19TH. Century. He is listed in both Brewington's Dictionary of Marine Artists and Archibald's Dictionary of Sea Printers. A pair of oil paintings on light board or heavy paper showing sailing vessels with a crew wearing Chinese hairstyles and clothing. The full-blown sails are beautifully painted; one has Chinese characters. Condition of the paintings is good except for some white scratch marks especially on the dark cloud of one and the waves of both. Frames are a maple veneer and appear very old with some splitting and loss of the veneer. Size of the frames is 15" x 12" x 1"

A gorgeous 19th century China trade marine oil painting portrait of the 3 masted clipper ship Unity of Boston under full sail. Excellent details, including riggings and sail. Good wave action, and there is another ship on the horizon. You can see the reefing lines on the sails. She is flying the American ensign. Unsigned, most likely by a port artist in Canton or Shanghai; about 1850.

A lovely 1892 China trade oil painting portrait of the 3 masted clipper ship Woolton under full sail. It is by the Calcutta (India) Chinese port artist Lai Fong. Excellent details, including riggings and sail. You can even see the reefing lines on the sails. She is flying the red Britannia ensign and a house ensign topmost.

This is a fine 19th century Chinese export painting on silk of a seated noble lady with her attendant carrying a teapot. Her head gear has many jade and ruby beads, and her sleeves are adorned with dragons. She was of the reigning Manchu tribe, and married to a senior official. Image area is 7 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches. This is a very interesting China Trade painting done in oil on light weight linen canvas. It is the trade steamship "FLEVO". The painting is wonderfully executed and is the quality of an A. Jacobsen painting. It is in the original frame with original early glass with its wonderful imperfections showing the age.
