This finely executed provincial Japanese byobu (floor screen) has been recently restored and remounted in two parts. The tranquil scene of poets enjoying a tea ceremony surrounded by attendants in a peaceful pavilion is executed in suitably muted tones highlighted by firm reds and subtle gilt details. Japanese, Eighteenth Century, Edo Period, each section is approximately 37-1/2 inches high and 50 inches wide.

Japanese woodblock print by Joichi Hoshi printed in 1971. This stunning print is titled "Sun Set" and is numbered 27/200. It is signed Joichi Hoshi in pencil and sealed with a Hoshi seal in the lower right hand corner.The image measures approximately 3.75" by 5.75" plus margins. Excellent condition, lower left corner bumped, evidence of prior mounting on back. Colors are strong and vivid. The size of frame: 13 3/4"x18 1/2", Image size: 9 1/4" x 10 1/2".It is handpainted on paper board with SUMI(black) ink.The frame is also from Japanese made. Simple, but nicely excuted. The bamboo trimming with wooden underneath. The border is brown fabric liner(silk) with tassel on the top. The condition of painting is excellent.
