Watercolor and gouache on paper, 8.75 inches x 11.25 inches (sight), 14 inches x 16.25 inches framed. Signed/inscribed "Deutsches Ordensspital zu Troppau 1939 V. Planckh", upper left. At the time this was painted, Planckh was apparently staying at the hospital in Troppau where his wife was seriously ill. Two years later Planckh died in the invasion of Athens. The work is a touching attempt to seek out the beautiful in the midst of the chaos of war.

A pair of beautifully executed still lifes in the Flemish style by Oskar Robert Dogarth (Austrian, 1898-1961). Oil on board, each work measures 9 1/2" x 12" (sight) and is in fine, original condition including frame.
Dogarth, a contemporary of Austrian still life artist Franz Xavier Pieler, was noted for his lush, finely detailed still lifes of flowers. We are also offering a larger work by the same artist, who also painted under the alias "Deffner."

A beautifully executed still life in the manner of the Flemish old masters, by Austrian artist Oskar Robert Dogarth(1890-1961)aka L. Deffner. Oil on board, painting measures 18" x 22" and is in fine original condition in its original frame. Signed lower right and with engraved plaque on frame.
Like his contemporary Austrian artist, Franz Pieler, Dogarth is noted for his lush, finely detailed still lifes. We are also offering two smaller still lifes by the same artist.

Georg Aristides Oeconomo, Austrian/Greek, 1821-1887. This exquisite portrait of an older scholar is 6 3/4" by 9.5" in an elegant antique teak wood frame, 11" by 12.5". It is oil on board and painted in great detail. It is signed clearly lower right and is in good condition.
His paintings sell for up to $25,000.

Franz Zallinger was a landscape and marine painter, who was born in Salzburg, Austria and settled in Seattle, Washington. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Bavaria and in Vienna with Fritz Kraus. He was a member of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters.
