Somebody poking fun at the equestrian capabilities of the rider? The dog going after the horse and rider really makes the painting comical--not for the fox hunting crowd--this is a rare scen... Oil on canvas by Max Band (Lithuanian-American/1900-1974), signed L.L. and dating from around 1940. It measures 18 x 10 and is in excellent original condition, and still in its original frame.
