Authentic Japanese Original Woodblock Print by Hiroshige III circa 1880. Hiroshige III (1842-1894) was - like Hiroshige II - a pupil of the great master Ando Hiroshige. After Hiroshige II was divorced from the daughter of Hiroshige I, he married her and called himself Hiroshige III and used the surname Ando. Authentic original Japanese Woodblock print by Gekko Ogata circa 1892. Ogata Gekko worked as a painter, printmaker and decorator of pottery and lacquerware. His favorite subjects were genre scenes from everyday's life. During and after the Sino-Japanese war he produced a considerable number of war prints. Gekko won several prizes at exhibitions. His print style reminds more of paintings than of traditional woodblocks. Gekko's designs required great skill of the carvers and printers. Nice print... Click for details

Authentic original Japanese Woodblock Print by Shuntei circa 1897. Shuntei Miyagawa was the printmaker of genre scenes showing women and mothers with their children. A frequent scene are playing children. Shuntei shows the new bourgois class of the Meiji era in traditional Japanese kimono clothing at their leisure time. Framed in enclosed glass acid free matting - approx. 16 1/4" X 20" including frame.

Original Japanese Woodblock Print from Utagawa Kunikazu circa 1865. Ukiyo-e printmaker active circa 1849-67. Studied with Kunisada in Edo; designed critically acclaimed obuki-e bust prints of kabuki actors in Osaka. Beautifully glass enclosed frame in acid free backing. One minor dark spot at lower right please see photos. Approx 16 3/8" X 19" including enclosed frame.
