This original bronze sculpture by Demetre Chiparus is known as Hindu Dancer (Danseuse Indoue) and dates from circa 1925. This parcel-gilt and cold-painted bronze figurine rests upon its original onyx stone pedestal which is signed by the artist along with the foundry name, Etling Paris. The entire piece measures 22.25 by 9.95 by 8.25 inches (56.5 by 23.5 by 21.0 cm). Provenance forwarded upon request. Otto Gutfreund, 1889 - 1927. Important Czech sculptor.
This bronze sculpture is signed Otto Gutfreund 1912.
Height appr. 19" (48 cm.) Weight 15 kg.
The torso is a bit more darker than the images show. The structure and colouring are very much equal to that of the sculpture "Concert" that is in the Kampa museum.(cz) Since the well known kubist torso from 1913/14 is made out of plaster and than only later casted in bronze, I sincerely and strongly believe that this torso which is made one year... This antique dore bronze sculpture dates from the nineteenth century and depicts a Roman chariot racer pulled by two winged horses ridden by a Goddess with trumpet. It measures 22.5 by 20 by 9 inches (57.1 by 50.8 by 22.9 cm) and weighs an estimated 30-45 lbs. (13.6-20.4 kg). We have found no signature nor foundry mark. This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
