These Rare Portuguese Mannequins are in Excellent Condition, c.18th Century. This pair is part of a suite of six mannequins originally commissioned for the Duchess of Croÿ. It is thought that the Duchess used the larger mannequin for gowns displayed in her private chambers at the Chateau in Condé-Sur-L’Escaut (Northern France). Hermitage Antiques, Ltd. purchased two pair of mannequins and the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia purchased the remaining pair. The faces are carved and painte... Click for details
