Colleoni was born at Solza, in the countryside of Bergamo (Lombardy), where he prepared his magnificent mortuary chapel, the Cappella Colleoni, in a shrine that he seized when it was refused him by the local confraternity, the Consiglio della Misericordia. The family was a noble one, exiled with the rest of the Guelphs by the Visconti. Executed in the 1950s, this bronze sculpture (on a steel base), stands 16 1/2"h (41.2 cm.) and is in excellent vintage condition. The sculptor, Ethel Rosenfield (1910-2000), has an impressive resume:
Biography: Born 1910, Poland. Immigrated to Canada and lived in Montreal from 1919 to 1977. Moved to Toronto in 1978. Studied sculpture at Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Montreal, Quebec for five years under Louis Archambault and Armand Filion. Founding Member of Quebec Sculptors Association

Dynamic post-modern ceramic sculpture by the highly acclaimed artist Frank Fleming. Executed in 1975, this signed and dated sculptured, was purchased by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Palm Beach, Florida (formerly the Lannan Foundation) - see photo of the museum report. The dimensions are 8 1/2"h x 11"d x 10 1/2"w (21.2 x 27.5 x 26.2 cm.). The condition is excellent and the museum accession number is painted on the bottom.
