A white metal (with a bronze wash) figure of a naked woman with long flowing hair holding a veil over her head on a red marble base. At the bottom of the metal figure is marked: France. The piece dates from the Art Nouveau period, 1890-1914. Condition is excellent with only minor marks on the bronze wash. Total height is 19.5"

This hand-carved wood figurine (BB59) depicts a mother completely covered with children. Marked on the base ‘Kenya’, it is believed to be from the Makonde tribe from Tanganyika, or perhaps a copy from one of the tribes in Kenya.
