Frederic M. Mayer (ca. 1918-2001), born in Brooklyn, studied at the University of Hawaii. Self-taught, a member of the East Hampton art community in the 1950s, prior to establishing himself as a realtor in East Hampton. One of a small number of wirework iron sculptures by the artist.
