This is a very fine made brown-patinated bronze sculpture of the French School. 19th century. The title of the sculpture is "The Kiss", and it is made by Jean Rousseau born in Paris 1813. He exhibited at the Salon from 1849-1879. His most famous sculpture "Ulysses bending his bow" is shown at the Chalons Museum. The sculpture is marked on the base, Rousseau. Excellent condition.

Bird carving composed of four birds sitting on a bench. Each has flint eyes and is exquisitely carved. The whole carving is out of one piece of mahogany and was done in the 1930s--probably in Puerto Rico. It is signed "Pacheco" but never found in a listing. The birds are common to Puerto Rico--they fly into houses and build nests in the chandeliers (and are supposed to bring good luck). This is a very high quality carving.
