A group in terra cotta after Filippo Della Valle ( 1698 - 1768 ), showing Eros and Psyche as two young children. They are entwined and rest on a roc. Back winged Eros, with an arch and quiver. There is a larger marble version of this group in the Wallace collection in London. It was long attributed to Augustin Cayot ( 1667-1722 ) and is now thought to be by Filippo Della Valle ( Florence 1698 - Rome 1768 ). A colorful stack sculpture which is 41" tall and the base which is 12" in diameter. In fine condition. This sculpture was a gift in the 1970s to artist, Erle Loran, who was chairman of the art department at UC Berkeley when Voulkos was head of the ceramics department. Although the ceramic is not signed, its provenance is impeccable. It is pictured in the 1978 book by Rose Slivka ,"Peter Voulkos: A Dialogue with Clay." Sam Jornlin, Voulkos's longtime assistant, dates the piece to 1972.... Click for details

A plaster statue of Saint Mary Magdalene holding a jar of ointment has been covered with a mother-of-pearl-like plastic coating and ornamented with small jewels. The base is decorated with two courses of pearls and one of diamonds. Condition is good although the hand holding the jar has been repaired and there are some minor chips and some jewels are missing from the base. A rare and large terracotta represent a
young boy looking its torn pentalon and seeming to
say (What will say to me?), this is the name of the
terracotta engraved on the original nameplate in french
"Qu'est-ce qu'on va m'dire?".
Incised signature J. Le Guluche on the base and stamped mark:
"Fabrication française". Good condition.
Dimensions: 21.1/2inches(54.5cm) high.
Origin and period: France, late 1800's.
