This is a signed portrait of model, girlfriend, or wife of Warren B Davis. There are two damages on the canvas on the left side and a little damage on the dress. The painting has never been cleaned and is mounted in its original frame. The painting measures 7" x 10" oil on canvas. The frame measures 12 1/2" x 15 3/8". The painting is signed in the top left corner Warren B Davis 1893.

“Paysage Et Maisons” Water Color, 20" x 22" framed & 7.5 " x 11" unframed, circa 1925. Hugo is known as a third tier impressionist. He was a native of France and a friend of Matisse. His style and technique can be compared with the best impressionist artists.

"Nyhavn" Oil on canvas, 40" x 31.5" framed Robert Panitzsch was born and lived in Denmark. His subjects were diversified and he was equally skilled painting still life, interiors, gardens, landscapes and seascapes. Most of his landscapes and sea scapes were inspired by the ports and canals of Copenhagen. This piece, painted near the end of his life, is a fine example of the techniques employed by Panitzsch that capture the bold colors and tranquil nature of the port city of Copenhagen...

The kanji for Peach appears in the uppper right of the print. 17 of 24 Haku Maki was one of the grand masters of the Sosaku-hanga print movement. Maki Haku (1924-2000) is the artistic name of Maejima Tadaaki, who was born in Ibaraki Prefecture. A nude slave girl on a bear skin rug orientalist manner oil by A. Goldwhite a listed artist. This stunningly beautiful painting is c. 1900 oil on board framed in a quality period gold leafed frame. Signed lower right A. Goldwhite measuring approximately 18 x 24 inches framed size 24 x30 inches the condition is excellent. A quality painting would be a fine addition to any collection.

In 1981 Haku Maki suddenly produced a modest series of prints with a vinyl (old leather)-like background. I have already written about several of these in my Research Note 8. Now I present another: a striking orange red persimmon with leaves tipped with a special Japanese lacquer and the background in vinyl. This is 81-31 and it is 175/190.

A pastel of the river Seine in Paris with the top of a building in the distance over leafy trees and a barge passing through the arch of a bridge by the American born Louis Orr who spent much of his life in Paris. This in a nice example of his work in a new mat and frame. Sight size of pastel 12 by 16 inches (30 by 40 cm) frame size 19 3/8 by 23 3/8 inches (49 by 59 cm).

Condition: Excellent with acid free mat and backing.

Joseph (Jusepe) Ribera, Spanish, 1588-1656. This exquisite portrait of a boy brings to mind Caravaggio. It is oil on canvas and signed faintly with the Monogram J R lower right. It is in good condition, has been relined long ago, and is 34.2cm H by 23.1cm H. It is in an antique frame with outer dimensions of 47.3cm W by 36.8cm H. Paintings by ribera sell for up to 4.5 Million USD.

In 1971 Haku Maki produced this large print, Poem 71-25. It was an edition of 100. This new arrival was produced in Tokyo and went ultimately to Florida in the US. It stayed there for a long time. In the course of its life there it was not treated nicely: It was folded in two places. The print had foxing, it had many ailments. Then it finally made it to my restorer. It had challenges there too: some liquid spilled on it, forcing a delay in the restoration process...

Dramatic kanji, sun and splash--this small print epitomizes the Maki style at its height. The kanji streaks across the print, now it is blue now it is black.There is a strong black sun and a sharp yellow plash--and the Maki seal. Yet it is not crowded. The Maki seal at the right is a roll, the Maki of his name.

In 1966 Haku Maki produced one of his many abstract series. He did Cell and he did Proportion Here I show Proportion 10 the white strokes appear against a beautiful yellow background . Above the strokes is a white Sun. Wow there are two Maki seals one at the top right and another at the lower left There is a red splash in the center .two images f Proportion 9 are added where are Proportion 1 through 8? 43/50

This Maki Big Red has the Kanji (Chinese character) for Flower as its theme. The Flower is red and strong; it is set off by a black Sun to the right. A blue tear balances the sun on the left. Maki’s seal in red ink paste, is below the tear, also at the left. Although Maki himself printed this image, the ink looks as if it was layered on by hand. This is 133/154; Print size is about 11” x 18”. We note: the paper in this print is smooth, it does not have the moon-surface effect...

Francois Charles Cachoud, French, 1866-1943. This gorgeous, lush night painting is Cachoud at his best. It is 25.5" by 32" in a stunning 19th C Gold leaf frame, with framed dimensions of about 35.5" by 42". It is fresh from an estate and is in good condition but needs a light cleaning and some touch up on the frame. A student of the great Gustave Moreau and Robert Delauny, he competed in the Salon de Paris, 1892 through the 1940's...
