This stunning twill silk scarf is titled "Brise de Charme." The noted artist and designer, Julia Abadie, did the graphics work for this, which was made in 1985. To my knowledge, it has never been re-issued.
With a background of a beautiful blue, it depicts, in marvelous detail and a rainbow of colors, a panoply of handpainted 18th and 19th century fans...
This is one of those pretty sweater clips that girls wore with their twin sweaters in the 1950s. One sweater was a pull over, and the other one was a cardigan which was often worn over the shoulders and held in place by a sweater clip. Most were decorative, as this one is. The pearlized heart shaped ends are decorated with flowers, the chain is imitation pearls and the clips are gold colored. It is in very good condition and has no marks.

This is a very unusual piece from the Art Deco Period when everyone used a compact. This one is made to look like a decorated envelope in black enameling and gold toned metal. The seal is a mother of pearl half button. The compact is not large - it is 2 3/4" x 1 1/2". The inside is in excellent condition - still has the little puff, but no powder and the silvering on the mirror has a few small blotches such as one would expect with something this old. It has no marks of origin.

Paving the front of this elegant English evening purse are clear sequins, each secured by a tiny black bead, and more black beads form a gorgeous flower-and-leaf design in high relief. Even the back has beading, for a total look of sheer luxury. The bag's shape is fascinating, too; its front panel lifts to reveal a deep pouch of heavy black satin, which recloses simply by folding over - a clever design that holds a *lot*...

Most of us avoid new furs now -- I haven't bought any for more than 30 years -- but I can't justify leaving vintage pieces to rot, unworn. They're warm, for one thing, and we still find them beautiful or faux-fur wouldn't be so popular.
It would be a great pity to waste a hat as glamorous as this towering pile of fluff. The look is positively Zhivago! And it covers your entire head, all the way down to the nape of your neck, so nothing could be cozier...
