Vintage 1980s pottery bowl by Lena Albert, Tohono O'dham Indian. Most Tohono pottery is unsigned so this is a neat find!

Traditionally handbuilt with native clay, stone burnished red slip, painted with mesquite juice then pit fired.

A happy singing grandfather storyteller by the original artist Helen Cordero. Born in 1915 at the Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico, died 1994. Helen Cordero was inspired by her Grandfather who was a storyteller of the old songs. Her first pottery figure was made to honor him.

Dimensions are 3 1/4" tall by 4" diameter. Traditionally hand built with coils of native clay, stone burnished to a high shine, reverse painted with the Feather design, then pit fired with wood and dung.
