This is a piece you will not see often. The ningen kokuho ( living national treasure )artist Kato Takuo ( 1917- 2005 )was famous for his recreation of ancient Chinese and Persian shapes and glazes. This is one of the nicest pieces of this type I have seen by him. It is in the form of a Tang dynasty ewer with sansai glaze. Perfect balance and delicate detail. The glaze fired perfectly as well. About 11" tall excellent condition signed and signed box. This piece would retail for into the $1... Click for details

A finely carved Japanese Noh mask, depicting Okina, with its original signed box/tomobako. I believe the writing on the back of the box lid says something about a presentation piece or gift. The mask is in excellent condition, the box has two loose pegs on one side (see photos). The mask dates to circa 1970. ………………………………................................................................................................................................................
