The Leiden Museum in the Netherlands was founded in 1818 by professor Otto van Heurn. In 1827 a large part of the important collection of the Belgian collector J.B. de Lescluze was acquired. In Livorno, Italy the collection of Maria Cimba was bought, she was the widow of the personal physician of Henry Salt.
