He is made of papier-mâché using an original mold from the early 20th century. His soft brown eyes are glass. Mr. Brauer hand-paints all of his items in a small studio in Germany. An authentically old candle pyramid is very hard to come by- the heat of the candles cause the blades to rotate , in turn, this rotates the centers of the two tiers - the parts holding the Erzgebirge figures. This 16" tall example, most likely German made in the Erzgebirge area, dates from about the turn of the century and comes out of Pennsylvania. Its base is about 6 3/4" square. The blades are painted tin. The central turning column is beautifully turned in a spiraling pattern. The highest ti... Click for details

This 8" tall snowman is the heftiest of my family of snowmen (see my previous two listings). His body is mica sparkled spun cotton and the nose is red spun cotton. Other details are hand painted.Overall very nice condition. The only damage is a piece of the brim on his top hat - it is missing. He is made in Japan - although not marked, he is obviously related to the other two I will list, and they are marked "JAPAN". He cradles twigs in his right snow arm. Dates from the teens or twenties.
