An official House Of Representatives plate. Shenango Pottery Co., New Castle, PA., circa 1930s or 1940s. See enlargements 7 and 8 for marks. Ref.: "Lehner's Encyclopedia of U.S. Marks on Pottery, Porcelain & Clay", pps 419-427. The mark on this plate corresponds to Lehner's Mark #9 of a total of 266 pictured Shanango marks where it is listed as "early" and which I believe dates to the 1930s or 1940s.
