The paste stones on this comb are absolutely dazzling, with a setting that tests 800 sterling. From about 3cts. to 11cts., these stones are perfect and brilliant. The hinge which holds the mount and the stones are in pristine condition and could be worn in several ways. The crescent shape which measures about 4.5 inches flips up or down, allowing wearer diversity in placing it on top, side, or in back of hairdo. C30's - 40s. Blush and golden threads are the woven background of this beautiful brocade purse, topped with an ornate, fabulous gilded jeweled and filigree frame (front side only - rear of frame has a carved design only). The closer has 4 seed pearls and a small round purple stone. All the stones could be real or glass - not tested - pearls feel real or cultured - also not tested. Absolutely amazing workmanship as they so knew how to do in Paris, France, C1920s. Frame is black enamel with hand engraved golden swirls accenting front and closer. Frame back is solid black enamel and does need a cleaning (see photos). Purse closes securely and is carried by its original snake chain. The needlepoint is done in layers on the large flowers, creating a layered, dimensional, vitality, as if they were real and blooming...some of the most wonderful work of this type I've ever see... A scarce and vintage late Regency period (George IV) rolled gold plate eyeglass monocle c1835. This deeply engraved 2-7/8" x 1-3/8" lens holder has ornate hand tooling, and it has a screw bolt for changing the 1-1/8" diameter lens.
